The BLC students had a great time immersing themselves in English learning while enjoying a hands-on experience at the Blue Door Cuisine. They made cupcakes and learned new English vocabulary related to baking. As the students enter the kitchen, the smell of freshly baked cupcakes fills the air, and they couldn’t wait to get started. The instructor began by teaching them basic baking terminology, such as “sift,” “whisk,” and “fold.” They practised saying the words out loud, repeating after the instructor, and then try to use them in sentences. The students then put on their aprons and began the fun part of the lesson, mixing ingredients and preparing the batter. They work together in teams, following the recipe step-by-step, measuring ingredients and learning how to use different kitchen tools. As they work, the students engage in lively conversation with each other, practising their English skills and making new friends. They asked each other questions about their backgrounds and shared their experiences of learning a new language.Once the cupcakes were ready, the students took them out of the oven and decorated them with different icing colours and toppings. They proudly displayed their creations and took photos to remember the fun experience. As the lesson came to an end, the students reflected on what they had learned and how much fun they had. They felt more confident in their English skills and grateful for the opportunity to learn in such an enjoyable way. Overall, the BLC students are thoroughly enjoying their immersion English learning experience at Blue Door Cuisine, where they learnt new vocabulary, practise their language skills, and have fun at the same time.
